For reference, the battery lasted something like 25 hours, I estimate. That is far longer than those little camera batteries where you have to use three at once and they last about an hour. The vibration is much stronger too!
It uses a single LR1 AM5 N-1.5V battery that typically costs about a quid at Amazon.

This works well in its advertised capacity and the method of size adjustment is a definite improvement over most such devices. Much more powerful than those little bullet rings. And not only that, but with some lube you can use the thing as a stroker by holding the 'handle' and sliding it up and down the shaft.
